Declutter & Cleanse Ritual Instructions

What's the difference between cleaning and cleansing?

Cleaning is surface level, its the literal act of making something clean like wiping away dust or sweeping. Cleansing is similar, but it requires intention, and care. It's not just removing dust, but clearing away an negative energy or emotions from something. If you're doing spring cleaning, here's how you can make it a full spring cleansing.

Spring Cleansing has become one of our favorite traditions of this time of year. It's ritual combined with chores- literally making the mundane magical!

  • Declutter & Cleanse Ritual

    • 1. Designate a specific space to declutter: We recommend picking a place that means a lot to you, or a place you interact with daily.

    • 2. Prepare 3 containers, and your supplies: One for donations, one for garbage, and one for the things that will need to be relocated to their correct home. Good prep before cleaning can make the whole process easier.

    • 3. Take it one item at a time: In your given space try to touch everything there, and if possible, we encourage rearranging the space to bring new life to it.

    • 4. Start Sorting: If an item is staying wipe it off and visualize wiping away the sleepiness of the winter hibernation. If it's being donated, wipe it off and wish it well for its next great adventure. If it's being trashed, thank it for how it has served you, and if you can take it apart to be recycled or reused please do.

    • 5. Share Memories: If any of the items you move or donate have specific memories speak them out loud. Let whatever feelings they bring you pass through you, and thank them for being a part of your journey.

    • 6. Meditate or Contemplate in your new cleansed space: After you've finished your declutter, light a candle or incense, and look at the space and determine new ways it can serve you. Think about what changes you may want to make in your daily routine, or what goals you may have next, and how that space can serve you in that.

    • 7. Write down 3 manifestations: Write in a positive, future tense, at least 3 things you want to happen, Like "I will wake up a little earlier every day", or "I am going to allow myself to rest on my days off". Speak those manifestations out loud, then tuck the paper in a hidden place in the space like in a book, or in a coat pocket. Someday you may forget it is there, and discover it again when you need it most.

There are so many ways to add magick to your cleaning whether it be a simmer pot full of scents to invigorate the space, talking to your plants as you go, or even just finally taking care of a task you've been procrastinating - any work you do, with good intentions, can make your spaces feel clean, bright, and breathe new life into your daily routine.
