What is Beltane, and how do I celebrate?

Beltane, or Bealtaine the Gaelic May Day Festival is on May 1, 2026 marking the beginning of summer.

Historically this holiday was celebrated in Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man, and is held about midway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice.

Now beloved by Neopagans, wiccans, and beyond this holiday is filled with feasts, flowers, bonfires, and a wide variety of ways to usher in a prosperous season.

Holidays like Beltane can sometimes bring pressure to celebrate big, or try to stick to the ancient, and historically accurate celebrations of the past. We are firm believers that any amount of celebration is valid, and just because you have a busy life doesn’t mean you can’t take moments between meetings for magick.

Themes - These are things to celebrate, or the things you should contemplate while journaling, mediating, or even just going through your day

  • New Beginnings - Beltane marks the beginning of planting season, what seeds are you hoping to plant in your life, and how can you help them bloom?

  • Fertility - Not just babies, but this is a great time to focus on your creativity. What can you make prosper in your life?

  • Sexuality - Historically sexuality was a major part of Beltane celebrations. If you have a partner, you can celebrate with them, but if you don’t consider exploring yourself and your own sexual desires. This is a great way to manifest more self confidence!
